Teething with fever?

Every few months DS has a few nights where he wont sleep or eat. Hes needy and whines all day. I know its teething but this time he has a fever of 102.6. Is this normal. Should I take him to the ER since its late or wait till morning to see what he feels like. Hes been warm for 2 days and had all the teething symptoms but tonight after I got him out of the bath he was shaking like he was freezing. So I wrapped him in a blanket until he stopped shaking. Then he was burning up all of the sudden. I took his temp and it was 102.9. I waited till I thought hed cooled down a bit and took it again and it was 102.6.

  • I'd try alternating motrin and tylenol and if he still has it in am you can call your pedi.  A fever isn't always a bad thing, it's your bodies way of fighting.  We took LO to the ER with a 104.1 temp and they weren't overly concerned.  It's more concerning when the fever shoots high super fast.

  • I swear, a fever over 101 isn't teething.

  • not teething.  If he has chills and it is over 101 I would be extremely surprised..you want to give some tylenol or motrin and call your pedi if you can't get the fever down.  Probably a virus.

  • We were at 101 and it was teething. She was warm all weekend and we have 2 new teeth. I know that some believe that a fever doesn't come with teething, but we have always had a an elevated temp.
