Last week our OB told us that we need to choose who will do our u/s every four weeks so that they will be consistent. Is there a reason we should pick one over the other to do them? We really like both doctors.
I started out with my MFM but I had to pay a $40 copay every time (weekly) so I am just doing everything through my OB even though my wait is horrible. She will send me to MFM anytime she thinks we need a second opinion. Just a thought to consider.
Twin boys born too early at 17w4d and 18w2d in February 2010
Transabdominal cerclage placed September 2010
DS born at 35w1d in February 2011
Twin girls born at exactly 36w in February 2013
Personally I would choose an mfm. There are things that can arise with twins that ob's are just not specialized in.
TTC #1 Since January 2011 Dx: PCOS and Anovulatory April 2012 BFP! Beta 1 5/22 - 1,000+ Beta 2 5/24 - 3,009 1st u/s 6/5 - TWINS!!! A/S Reveals we are Team PURPLE!!! 12/27 - surprise BFP - due August 2014
I get mine at the MFM b/c the equipment at the hospital is allegedly better.....that's what my OB said anyway. Also, like PP said, there are so many issues that can arise w/ twins that it does give me peace of mind knowing that the MFM is handling it. It is a bit more expensive, but I think it's worth it.
I still see my OB for everything pregnancy related (heartbeats, urine, BP) but I also see a MFM every four weeks for growth scan. My MFM's u/s equipment is way better then at my OB's office.
DD#1 3/04 *TTC #2 since 6/2010 EDD 1/30/13 changed to 2/4/13 we are having boy/girl twins!

This exactly. The only downside is that I have a copay for the MFM, but not for the OB. My OB didn't give us the option though.

This. Plus the techs at the MFM office see twins all the time and know exactly what to look for. Not that the OB's office doesn't. But for example the tech I normally saw at MFM specialized in mono/di ultrasounds. That really eased my mind.

I agree with all of this! I saw both and my ob always did a u/s (I think just to charge my ins) but she wasn't an expert at it by any means. Sometimes she had trouble finding all three babies. Most MFMs will have better u/s equipment too.
Diagnosis: DOR and MFI-low everything

I only saw my OB but, I didn't have any issues and there was an MFM in the practice that I would have seen if there had been a problem at any point.
If you have a choice though, I'd choose the MFM. GL-
