How old was LO when you switched from a high chair to a booster seat? Also, how old was LO when he/she started using silverware somewhat correctly?
DD is 15 mo and I was looking at her in her high chair today and I don't know if she grew overnight or what but she's looking like she is outgrowing it. Also, I'm wondering if she might be ready to try the toddler silverware- I haven't given it to her at all yet.
Thanks!
Re: Booster seat and silverware question
DD1 moved to a booster seat at the table, no tray, around 17 or 18 months. We are considering moving DD2 to the booster soon, around 16 months, but she's smaller than her sister was so I'm not sure the booster will put her high enough at the table yet
As far as silverware, I started letting the girls have spoons and forks as soon as they showed an interest, probably around 7-8 months. DD2 is now 15 months and starting to use them more for their actual purpose. I think DD1 used them properly and fairly well by 18 months.

We've never owned a high chair. We lived in a condo until about 8 months ago so space was an issue and we liked the booster seats so much that we'll use one for next LO also. I like that I can take them to someone's house if we are invited over for dinner and that I don't have to store another piece of equipment.
DD and DS both started using silverware at around a year, maybe a little earlier for things like oatmeal and yogurt but didn't really get the hang of it for a few months. DS is pretty good at it now at 18 months, but still prefers to use his hand when possible.
DS still sits in his high chair for breakfast and lunch because we don't have a table in the kitchen area right now. He has been in a booster seat at the dinner table since probably a little over a year old.
He has been using a fork well since about 15 months, I think. He is almost 2 now and only started using a spoon well less than 2 months ago. I didn't really give him a lot of opportunity with spoons because I never wanted a huge mess lol.
I think now would be a good time to introduce the silverware; at least just to show how it works and leave it in front of them with their meals. If she gets crazy with it you can take it away, but a little experimentation everyday might be good.
