Jogging Strollers?

I only run 3-4 miles a couple times a week so I don't need anything too expensive.  I am looking for a quality jogger around $150. Any recommendations?

Re: Jogging Strollers?

  • I run about the same mileage, and feel your pain about the expense of a jogging stroller.  However, I would caution you about buying a cheap one - I have found that with jogging strollers, higher quality does equal higher cost.  I have a BOB,which was about 400, but we will use it for years - and I wish I had bought it before my son was born, instead of at 3 months when we already have a Chicco travel system stroller.  The infant insert works great with your infant carrier :)  I have not used my Chicco travel system stroller that came with our car seat once since we bought the BOB.

If you are looking for something cheaper, I would suggest looking on craigslist for someone selling a BOB.  Baby Trend does sell some cheaper, but many of the "jogging strollers" you see out there aren't truly meant for jogging, they are just more all terrain type strollers.  I know that doesn't help your question much, but be on the lookout for sales/deals - you'll find something.

  • We have a Baby Trend, and although LO hasn't arrived yet, DH has taken it on a few test runs with a couple of bricks added to simulate weight, and he loves it. We found a reasonably priced one at Babies R Us, and if you have a Burlington Coat Factory, they had one too (we just wanted the MP3 feature, so that's why we bought from BRU). I can't speak for longevity, but it seems sturdy and well built, and the one we bought had good user reviews.

  • I bought my Baby Trend expedition jogging stroller system for $180 total ($90 for the stroller and $90 for the car seat) from Burlington Coat factory and they have them at that price all the time. It folds up really nicely and you can choose if the front wheel is locked or swivels. My car seat clips onto it and I use it everyday whether I am running or just grocery shopping. I swear by it and I am going to get the new baby trend double jogging stroller when I have another baby.

  • For that price range I would go with a Joovy Zoom. It's a much nicer stroller and more solid than the Baby Trend Joggers. If you get the Zoom 360 the wheel is still nice and stable when you lock it to run unlike the Baby Trends that tend to have a wobbly front wheel. They have great customer service too.

Itotally agree. I don't ever regret getting a better jogging stroller. I would look for a second hand BOB or other better jogger if it wasn't in my budget. Even if you're a light use, you will notice a difference. You're probably more of a Revolution than an Ironman, unless you plan on doing harder runs.
  • we just bought the schwinn turismo swivel wheel jogger and love it! It's around $179 and very similar to the BOB much more sturdy than the baby trend and overall so much nicer! The thing that turned me off the most about baby trend is the reviews from people that ran a lot complained about the front wheel shaking I looked at target, walmart and amazon reviews that complaint came up a lot. I saw nothing but great reviews for the schwinn and I have to agree its wonderful!
