Bedtime routine

So I am trying to have a bedtime routine, sometimes easier said than done. I have noticed that on nights LO gets a bath before bed he goes down much easier, but I typically only bathe him every other day. Should I start bathing him every night? If not any tips for the nights he doesn't get a bath?

I started bathing LO every night for this exact reason, however, I only use soap and really wash him every other night.  The rest of the time, it's just a nice warm water bath that he hangs out in for 10 minutes.  I was worried about drying out his skin, but after two weeks of doing it, he seems to be just fine. 

ETA:  We then read a few books/sing a couple songs while rocking, swaddle, feed, and down he goes.
