Labial Adhesion

Hi everyone, I haven't been on the bump in who knows how long, but I was hoping to get some feedback. My daughter had her 18 month appointment last week and the dr said she has a labial adhesion. This is when the vaginal opening sort of closes back up. She gave me Premarin Cream to put on the area twice a day for two weeks and said that should open it back up. Just wondering if any of you have dealt with this and could share your experience? The dr made it sound like its not a big deal at all, but it seems like it is to me. Thanks!!

Re: Labial Adhesion

  • DD had it at around 5 months old. Her dr. prescribed premarin and we used it something like you said- twice a day for a while, then once a day, then once every few days, etc. It was pretty minor and opened back up within a month - was good by her 6 month well visit. At that point dr. said use the cream once a week for another month and then we should be good, and it hasn't been a problem since. It was really concerning to me that I missed it and just suddenly noticed it one day, but it was resolved really easily. I'm sure it'll be fine!

  • DD1 had this at... hmm... I don't actually remember how old she was, LOL. Maybe 9 months? We were told to use vaseline every diaper change for a few weeks and if that didn't help we would do the cream. By her next well check things were fine. Our pedi said it's not uncommon for it to happen in infants as their hormones balance out.

  • I don't have a daughter but it's something that I myself had as a child and it really did go away forever after a few months with the cream.

  • We were told about this at our 12 month too. We are going to see what happens without the cream for a bit because a, she freaks out when I try to put it on, and b, my friend's daughter had this and used the cream and noticed some lumps in her breasts (because of the extra hormones, I guess? although, I think she used it for an extended period of time so if it's just for a bit, I won't have a problem), so I am just going to talk to the doc about it more at the next appointment to see our other options before the cream. Obviously I dont know if that is the problem, but I just wanted to do more research and see what else we could do before the cream.
