Typically we are out of town on Christmas either with my parents or with the ILs. I think as our tradition that we will celebrate Christmas on the 27 each year (unless we get fed up with traveling and remain at home). Or we might celebrate it early each year. Anyone else have this issue? Suggestions?
Re: Anyone else do this?
I grew up like this. We were always at extended family on the holidays (either far or near). We had Christmas at home whenever it worked. 30 years later it's still the joke, "So when is Christmas exactly?" We all lived and thought it was fun.
It was also great as a kid and a lot less stress to spread it out a bit and actually enjoy it rather than jamming four events into two days on actual Christmas.
My mom made it special by doing a treat with us during the 4 Saturdays of advent, getting us something fun to do on the roadtrip to grandmas and something fun to wear at grandmas.
We kind of do the same now. It is what it is. I'm not a "MUST be home on Christmas morning person" at all. Doesn't cross my radar of things to passionate about so that probably sways my opinion.
