Is it too early to ask WFD?

I am thinking of making broccoli cheddar soup with chicken, but I might change my mind. What are your plans for dinner tonight?
A woman's life is nine parts mess to one part magic, you'll learn that soon enough...and the parts that look like magic turn out to be the messiest of all.

  • Fish (cod), yellow beans and potatoes.  Kind of sad, but that is what I had in the fridge.
promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
  • loaded baked potato buffalo chicken casserole

Chilli's To-Go.  Happy Birthday to me.  Its actually tomorrow but DH will be out of state tomorrow so we are celebrating tonight at home.

Happy Early Birthday! I miss Chili's. We used to go all the time, but we moved and now there isn't one anywhere near us :(  I miss my crispy chicken crispers.

  • I am part of a make ahead meal exchange every month.  We exchange 8-10 meals with 8-10 different ladies.  Tonight is a freezer meal from this.  We are having Pizza Casserole.  Not sure what that entails, but it'll feed us.
  • What is your broc/cheddar soup recipe??

Seriously, Chili's is my FAVOURITE place to go when we are in Florida.  I don't care how white trash that makes me.  2 for 1 drinks (not legal here in Ontario...but my riiiiiightttts) and cheap, yummy food.

  • I'm going to make sauce with ground turkey.

    Have it with cheese ravioli.

Wash it down with LOTS of vodka.

I have off the next 2 days. Yea!!

That's a really cool idea. That is, if you know 8-10 people

    that can cook.

  • I am sad and pathetic. I want chicken noodle soup so bad. With lots of saltines.

Ooooh, that also sounds really yummy.
  • I  have this slowcooker shredded beef in the crockpot, and it will be used for soft tacos with all the fixings. I'll be home late and it's easy for DH. DS will have some sort of veggie side but I doubt DH will make himself anything on the side - and I doubt I'll feel like making myself a side when I get home, either.
  • Maybe vegetable dumplings again.

  • Sloppy joes. It's going to be a late dinner because we are getting family pics done in the suburbs.

Honestly, I just kinda wing it. I usually start with some chicken or veggie stock (depending on what I have), bring that to a boil, add diced potatoes and broccoli (and usually some celery once the broc and potatoes are about halfway done), once that stuff is almost all the way tender, I add some roux (butter+flour, or you can use a corn starch slurry) to get to the desired thickness, then add cheese and salt and pepper to taste. If I'm feeling sassy, I'll cook up some chicken, then dice it to throw in at the end.

Sorry that's not a real recipe haha. I'm a fast and loose kinda cook.

The 2 people dinner for $20 is the way to go. That always frees up enough cash for my cheap azz to feel okay about spending money on drinks haha
