I go back to work Thursday. I can't believe it's been 9 weeks already. I'm grateful I'm only part time, but some days I am working 9 hours. Where do you go to pump? I really don't have a lot of time to spend pumping. Do you think if I can only pump once that will be enough?
Re: Pumping at work
I would start by talking to your supervisor. Then hr if necessary.
This is what I do: I work an 8 hour shift and pump 3x--on my morning break, at lunch, and in the afternoon. I have a double electric pump so I pump both sides during each session. I think if you were at work for 9 hours you should pump at least twice. My bosses are really supportive and gave me an empty office next to our lab so that I can pump in private. Otherwise I would have to go pump in the closest lactation room (I work in a hospital so there are several). I would ask your employer if there was a private spot with an outlet that you could you use to pump. Hopefully they will be accomodating to your needs! Otherwise I guess you could do it in the bathroom, but that would really suck.
I feed right before I drop her off at daycare, then pump on my lunch at 11, then I pump right away as soon as I pick her up. I work a 6 hour shift. Ideally, I would prefer to pump twice, but my day is packed and my supervising teacher is on maternity leave. She is due back in 2 weeks, and I would prefer to discuss this with her vs. with her sub.
Right now I pump in the "TV Studio" at school. It's the only room in the whole school with a lock and no windows, that isn't a bathroom.
Here's a great website to help you understand your rights. And ladies NO ONE should be pumping in a bathroom! It is against federal law and all states must at least have laws that meet the guidelines in the Federal law.

i think how often you pump depends on your supply. If you can get what you need from one session and maintain your supply doing so, awesome. I will need to pump, 3 possibly 4 times during my work day to get 12 oz.
Do you think a sectioned off part of the bathroom designated for pumping is the same as pumping in the bathroom? We have to use the bathroom sinks to wash parts.
It is a LAW that you must be provided a place to breastfeed or pump at the workplace.
I use the conference room at my work and I pump at 7, 10, 1 and 4 (10 and 1 are pumped at work.)
