Dumb questions from a FTM

Hi everyone,

I started prepping my prefolds yesterday and I've got 3 that don't seem to be prepping very well, or at least like the others.  I've washed and dried them 3 times, and when I pour water on them, it still pools for 5ish seconds and then eventually soaks in.  Do I need to keep washing/drying, or try boiling? Also, on the ones that do absorb quickly, the water goes right through...is this right?  I'm assuming this is the reason why with prefolds you NEED a cover.

The water will go right through the prefolds. The more the prefolds are washed the more absorbent they will become, so I wouldn't worry about those three that aren't absorbing as quickly.

You'll be fine. They will get more absorbent as you use them, but they are fine to use. The force from your LO actually peeing and the pressure from their bum will make the PFs absorb. It's expected that the urine will soak through the PFs- that is why they need a cover.
