This weekend i asked about helping transition DD to a bottle. i got some good suggestions. kind of bottles, nipples, trying to get husband to feed her. nothing is working, she wont even attempt the bottle.
i don't know what to do or how long this will last. do i just suck it up? i'm at a loss. i feel trapped and cant ever go anywhere without her because she will refuse no matter how hungry.
ETA: Has anyone used the NUK bottles? the nipple seems very different and im reading some decent reviews on them. i'm tired of wasting money but i will try anything.
Re: Do I just suck it up?
Someone posted a Youtube link the other day for drinking from a cup. That could be worth a shot.
Also, we only use the NUK bottles. We received many different bottles, either as gifts or as samples by the mail, but she really prefers the NUK bottles.
One more suggestion, my daughter was struggling to take a bottle and we tried lots of different things too (bottles, nipples, warm, cold, from me, from someone else, etc.). What ended up being the game-changer was to not hold her while she is drinking a bottle. Maybe try putting your LO in a rock'n'play, bouncy seat, reclined high chair, or even the car seat while you try to give a bottle?
Anna doesn't like to be snuggled much and I think she associated cuddling like that with eating from the boob, so when we stopped doing that she does much better with taking a bottle. I hope you find a solution, it is so stressful and you deserve some time away! GL!
My LO won't use a bottle either, I know how frustrating it gets. My mom recently bought the Nuby sippy cup for 4+ mos and while she is still learning to use it, she seems to like it. It's one of her favorite 'play things'.
Granted, she only eats about half of what we put in there - a quarter ends up on her onesie and the rest she gets bored before eating.
Here's the link. She got it at BRU, but I've seen them at BJ's in a 3 pack.
I have been having the same issue...its improving though. For the past week I have been offering LO 1 oz in a bottle each day just so he gets used to the bottle. He actually started taking it after a few times trying! I used the Nuk bottle and also found that he only drinks it when the milk is really warm...try that! Good luck!
i was trying this this morning. i waited four hours and she fell asleep from exhaustion. i'm willing to try this since she is a stubborn little thing, but man is it hard. you'd think i was killing her.
