I wrote this weekend about how my agency lost the ability to process Peruvian adoptions because of late postplacement visits, and how resigned I've become about the whole thing.
I found out today that the woman in charge of processing the postplacement reports is no longer at the agency. I don't know, but I hope she was fired and didn't go on to "bigger and better" things in the adoption community. In the last 2.5 years, this woman has never sent one of our reports to Peru on time, despite us always completing them early. She has literally let them sit on her desk for months. She has never responded to an e-mail the first time I sent it.
Last month, when I found out that one of the main reasons the agency lost their license to operate in Peru was because of late reports, I cc'ed the director, her supervisor, my homestudy worker, and the Peru coordinator on my e-mail asking why I hadn't heard my report was sent to Peru a month after we submitted it. The e-mail pointed out what a big concern this was, given that the agency is trying to have its license to operate in Peru reinstated and that this was one of the country's main concerns. I never heard back from anyone but the post-placement worker, but it seems that someone took notice.
This isn't a case of schadenfreude, but I'm glad she's gone (even if she just quit), because she was all sorts of bad for the future of adoptions from Peru and likely other countries as well.
