Help...Stopping reflux meds question

My LO has been on prilosec for approx 6 weeks. I have experienced issues with it such as he has such painful gas towards the end of each bottle of medicine that he screams for hours a day/night in pain. Literally nothing helps. I am about 100 sure it's the medicine but we don't go to the doctor until Wednesday. I have read the compounded medicines can lose effect and or cause tummy issues. We are on our 4th day and night of screaming and withering to get gas out and I can't bear to keep giving it to him for 3 more days if this is the issue. Will stopping cold turkey hurt until we see the doctor?
