DESPERATE for advice

Hello ladies,

I am in sleep-avoidance/separation anxiety HELL!

This past Thursday my 18mo DD got a few shots at her Pedi then we flew into my hometown (just an hour flight). Once we got here all hell broke loose. My DD didn't want anyone to hold her and would scream bloody murder if I handed her off. Even sitting down, she wants to be on my. She also decided that she doesn't want to go to bed unless she is LITERALLY attached to me, including naps! She will fall asleep in my arms but will wake up and start crying and jumping in her crib if I put her down. She already doesn't sleep through the night and I can't keep bringing her into my bed.

Today she had no nap till 6 freaking PM and now is screaming away in her room. I'm at a loss...

I am so, so exhausted and I've been getting so angry with her.

Please help.

  • Did your pedi check her ears?  Have you tried giving her some motrin?

  • Loading the player...
  • Also, flights can REALLY mess with their ears and my LO was a hot mess and wouldn't sleep anywhere but with me for like 3 days.  It was super awesome...

  • I'd just relax and see if it stops and is from the shots.  My son gets sooo needy and annoying when he has shots.  If it doesn't stop by Tuesday, I'd take it as rebellion lol
Also, I'd start sleep training with her or something to get her to sleep the night.  That probably doesn't help initially.

Teeth, ear pain, pain from shots.  It's a pain reliever.

  • I would tough it out until you get back home and settled, then sleep train her. Get a routine going and stick to it. Stick to it even more firmly when you're out of town.

For instance, if my DD missed nap and was screaming for sleep, I'd start her normal night time routine and put her tush in bed for the night, but her normal bedtime is 7pm, so that's why.

  • My DD is the same way. She has been sleeping in bed with us. I cant take it anymore. I'm working on moving her into her own room and letter her CIO for a little while.

But before that I always make sure that she is full doesnt have gas and isnt in a growth spurt. If she is I give her some gas drops and motrin. Usually helps her settle down.

  • i could have written this post, except its normality for us... IT SUCKS. i would like some help too!!
  • The exact same thing happened to us when DD was about 9 months old. She does it every time we travel. We took her to the pedi and she got a couple of shots, and then we took an 8 hour car ride to a wedding. It turned into a 14 hour car ride because she was screaming the whole way. When we got there she would not nap and had the worst time sleeping at night. She was very clingy to me and DH the whole time.
