XP: sleep easy solution: share your success story

I am thinking we are going to try this with DD. I have been playing the pacifier game every 40 minutes during the night with DD and I am exhausted. She is still swaddled too. We tried the Merlin magic sleep suit and that went horribly. I hear that the sleep easy solution is pretty popular and just want to hear stories from other moms on how it went, how long it took, etc. TIA!

Re: XP: sleep easy solution: share your success story

  • My LO did a wonderful job with Sleepeasy. We did use the Magic Sleepsuit though, and did not have the pacifier issue. We started introducing him to the ideas behind Sleepeasy around 4 months by letting him soothe himself little by little, and not running to him right away when he woke up, to see if he would ever get back to sleep on his own. Then we went full out with the program at 5.5 months and he did fantastic b/c he had so much practice under his belt. The most crying we ever had was 35 minutes and 2 check-ins. Prior to the training, he was up every hour to eat so I also had to follow the night weaning plan outlined in the book, which worked well for us as well. He still has random nights of crying (usually most likely a teething issue) but its never long. He's also going through a phase now (since we've gotten rid of his Sleepsuit) where he'll wake in the MOTN and play in his crib for over an hour before he goes back to sleep. But all in all we are very happy we did it and it's really gotten all of us more valuable restorative sleep. You can PM me if you have any more questions. GL!

  • SleepEasy saved our lives! We did it when DD was 5 months old. We were having to rock her to sleep for an hour each night. It was awful. Our problem was that she was a super wiggly baby and we couldn't swaddle anymore since she was rolling.

Our first two nights were hard. Night one she cried for 58 min and 39 min on night two. By night 5 she didn't even need a check in! I had to wean off one night feeding and that was 4 days of waking up at 3AM. I sleep trained naps at the same time. For us, naps were easier as she was already on the book prescribed schedule.

We didn't have a pacifier issue either, but from what I remember, the book says that unless they can replace it themselves, you should not use it.

I am so glad we did it. When she got her first cold, she would wake up a few times, but put herself right back to sleep. I don't know what we would have done if she wasn't able to self soothe.

    My recs:

    1. Read the whole book before you start. There is valuable info in every chapter

    2. Make sure DH/SO is on board. You will need the support if your first few nights are like ours.

    3. Be consistent and don't give up until you've been doing it for at least a week!

    Good luck!

  • We just started using it, and it has helped night sleep a lot. I give him the paci when I put him down, but I don't replace it during the night. DS will wake a few times and fuss for it a little, but he usually find his fingers or lovey to suck on and settles right down.
