Graco SnugRide 40 Reviews

DH and I went registry shopping this morning and saw the Graco SnugRide40.  We liked the fact that it would grow with our baby up until age 2.  And, I saw a stroller of theirs that would grow with the baby as well through toddler.

Anyone have any experience so far with this new version their carseat?  TIA!

  • I assume you mean the Click Connect 40?

I will hopefully have a review of it this week. I won one a few weeks ago, and it should be arriving shortly.

  • You will want a convertible seat before age 2. I promise.

  • I had the 35. I liked it. It got way too heavy at about 5 months so we started leaving it in the car. We then bought a convertible for my car and left the graco in my dh's car at about 9 months. At about a year we switched both to a convertible. He had plenty of room still in the graco but the straps were impossible. We couldn't get them loose enough to get him in. It was very frustrating. I don't know if they corrected this problem on the 40. If I were you I might try borrowing a 1 or 2 year old kid to see if the straps fit on the instore model. The other thing to consider is that you will still have to buy a convertible car seat after your baby outgrows the graco (even at 40 lbs you should be using a carseat not a booster plus you won't make it to 40 since babies almost always outgrow the height limit first), so imo the extended time in the infant seat isn't worth it.  Older babies also tend to prefer convertibles where they can see more than the infant seats. If you like graco you can save some money and get the 32 or the snugride.

  • Bonnesetter, go take a look at the 40, it's a whole different animal than the 35. It's a hybrid infant/convertible that only rf. It has an adjustable recline that makes it more like a convertible as the baby gets older. Personally, this seat may not have made it to age 2 rf for my girls, it may be a decent buy for kids on the average or shorter side, and they could graduate to a ff harnessed seat like a Frontier (although personally I'd rather rf Longer).

OP, The Car Seat Lady did a review on her blog. Also wouldn't mind hearing SCB's take too.

I will definitely post and let you know when it arrives. Sadly, I will have to use my fake demo baby, because I don't have a squishy baby to use. :( I will try and find a 1 year old or so to try as well.

    I hope I love it.

Yay! I'll have to be content with that, not even mention when or if it'll come here. No squishy babes here either, but yay, my "little" cousins are having babies, so I'm still gear shopping.

I am hoping for a squishy baby by the end of next year. ;)

It sounds like it would be an okay seat for average sized kids, especially if you only want to rear face to 2.

Personally, I want to rf as long as possible and am planning to buy the Graco My Size 70 to hopefully rf to 4 years. Also, both my girls would have outgrown that Graco seat by height before 2 years. DD1 has always been 97th or above for height. DD2 is 90th for height.
