Sometimes... if I remember. But I do give our cat canned food on every holiday. He usually eats dry food, but he gets canned food on holidays (and at other random times.)
We don't have any pets now, but we always bought them gifts. The children always liked picking out treats or toys.
Have you run across the dog treat maker? I think I saw it at Target or Kohls. It's like the cake pop and donut makers, but for doggie treats. I thought it was a cute gift for a pet owner.
edit: The pets also had stockings with their photos on them. Now I miss my cat
The boys will get new cushions for their crates and probably a couple toys. They are so hard to shop for when it comes to toys because they shred even the heavy duty toys in .5 seconds.
When we had dogs, they always got something...toy, treat, etc. Now, we dont have pets but SIL has a cat and we always buy a gift for the cat - usually just a cheap toy. (SIL does not hve kids and treats her cat like her baby.)
We used to give the old dog a toy stocking. The big dog will swallow anything so they just get a new flavor of treats this year. He polished off the old dogs toys in a couple of weeks.
Re: Animal gifts
Yes, they each get a new collar, a new toy, and a "fancy" treat of some kind. They have their own special stocking that looks like a big dog paw.
We also get a treat for my IL's dog.
