When ds1 was born, dh and I decided that we would be home on Christmas Day as a family. It's worked quite well and we've enjoyed it.
My mil and sil both are in the medical field. Mil is working Christmas eve and Christmas day. Sil is working Christmas eve and the day after Christmas. Sil invited us over Christmas day so the kids can open presents. Sil's kids are 11 and 12.
We told them that they were more than welcome to come over in the early afternoon. Sil said normally they would but that the girls would want to play with their presents. Dh told her that ds1 would want to play with his too. We also don't want to pack up 2 little kids and be on the road for a good three hours.
Do we budge and go or stick to our plan to stay home on Christmas Day? It's either we go there or we don't see each other that day.
I am leaning towards staying home.
Re: What to do...
I agree with this. Stay home and enjoy the whole day as a family.
