Re: is it true....

  • I thought it was. That is not to say it is a walk in the park, but physically, I thought it was easier to have two outside babies. Mentally/emotionally may be another story...

  • I found it easier.

WIth a newborn, you can put the baby down and chase the toddler. You can't pop the pregnant belly off and chase after a toddler, so you have to lug all that weight and awkwardness with you.

Also, sleep deprivation exhaustion is somewhat easier to handle than general pregnancy soreness and exhaustion, in my opinion.

  • I guess I'll be the oddball, I found everything about being pregnant with a toddler easier than two outside babies. Hands down. Granted, I had a relatively easy pregnancy.

  • Yes, it really is easier. You are your own person again. You don't have the pain and morning sickness and hormones like you do when you are pregnant. Ideally, both kids sleep at some point, and you get that time for yourself.

    Yes, it's easier.

  • For me it was.

This will really depend on how difficult your pregnancy is/how your second baby uis/how your toddler adjusts though.

  • Way easier physically to have a toddler and a newborn.

  • I found it easier.  I was working FT with an hour+ commute each way while pregnant and taking care of a toddler.  Being on ML with 2 kids was a cake walk by comparison.  Going back to work was a bit tough, but I've got my routine down now.

  • I had no energy when I was pregnant, and my back hurt and bending over was the last thing in the world I wanted to do (bending over is in the job description with toddlers, every.thing.is.on.the.floor!) so I'd say it's been so much easier with the newborn!

  • I asked the exact same question when I was pregnant and let me just say that I think it is INFINITELY easier now that I'm not pregnant anymore. Of course, then I went and hurt my back and it became harder than when I was pregnant but now that my back is finally better again, it's easier again. So, don't hurt your back once LO is here and you'll be golden!

As far as making it easier for now, I recommend figuring out how to contain your LO in a baby-proofed area where you can rest when you need to. And try to avoid situations where your toddler would be more likely to lose it from being too hungry or too tired which ups the chance of tantrums and the like. Hang in there though, it truly does get better!

  • I had an easy pregnancy & only gained 22 lbs, but I still found it easier after #2 was born.  During that last month of pregnancy, I would just lay on the floor and hope DS would play around me (he was 17-18 months).  I had NO energy.  Once DD was born, I had plenty of energy.  We had a really smooth transition to having two.  I will say it is getting harder now that DS is almost 2 (he's getting needier, the tantrums are all the freaking time), and DD is starting to need more individualized attention.
