Advil/Tylenol for teething

How many days in a row will you give your LO advil/tylenol for teething pain? I don't give it around the clock - only at bedtime. In the past I've only really needed to give it for a couple days and then the tooth would break through and she'd be fine. Well now she has one molar and the other three are coming through at the same time and it seems to be taking FOREVER. I don't want to keep medicating her but I don't want her to be in pain either and when I try to not give it to her then she doesn't sleep.

Re: Advil/Tylenol for teething

  • I don't have any advice but just wanted to say I struggle with this too.  When DS is teething he is really bothered by it (I think he has a low pain tolerance).  But I definitely struggle with trying not to over medicate but wanting him not to be in pain.

  • If you are worried, have you tried teething tablets instead or overnight orajel?

  • Our LO has had sleeping problems for the past couple of weeks, partially due to teething. Part of our bedtime routine, as recommended by pedi, has been a dose of ibuprofen. It's pretty much the only time we use it. I can understand not wanting to overmedicate, but you need your peace too and I don't see a problem with it.
