How difficult it is to find decent holiday outfits for boys. I don't want a mini-suit, nor do I want him in jammies or dressed like Santa. I just want a nice sweater vest set with khakis and a button down. It really, really, really should not be so hard. They should be right out front with the adorable little girls dresses, not few and far between and always sold out if you find them at all.

I saw some cute ones at gymboree right after Thanksgiving.  Not sure if they still have stuff.  I hate the crappy boys department selections.  They always seem relagated to the back corner and the rest of the store is pink and fluffy.

I feel the exact same way. 

My philosophy is, if I see it, I like it, I must buy it because I won't find it again.  it is sooooo hard to cute clothing for DS especially for holiday formal occassions.

I saw some really cute sweaters at Target for toddler boys a couple of weeks ago while looking for something for DD.

I found a sweater vest and a plaid button down shirt at Kohl's. They are separates, but they look adorable on. The sweater is navy blue and has an appliqued red Christmas train on it. The shirt is red/navy/green plaid. I am still on the hunt for khaki pants that do not fall off of my hipless child....

I have found several at places like Target, Children's Place and Khol's. DS has a ton and looks adorable in them.

I found a sweater vest with a train and a button down long sleeve plaid shirt to wear under at Kmart.  DS looks so adorable in this outfit!  He wore this with jeans for his Santa picture.

 For other posters, I've bought DS khaki pants at the Carters outlet.

Some of these are really cute.  We ended up buying LO's holiday outfit for this year after last Christmas for a crazy discount...but maybe you cna find something here. It is so difficult to find something that isn't boring for boys.  I thought the moose sweater vest was cute.

I know!  I haven't found anything either.  All the sweater vests I've seen lately are ugly black and red!  Who wants to dress their kid in black and red on Christmas?  Too dark.  Then again, I think most of the little girl's Christmas dresses are pretty horrendous too.  They look so gaudy and itchy.  If I had a girl, she'd wear a little sweater dress or skirt and top.

As you can see from the post above, we dressed LO in black/red (with hints of green) for christmas and he looked quite cute for his christmas pics. I think what looks one way in a catalog may look completely different on.

I found a pattern on prudent babys website for a reversible vest that was pretty easy to make. I made him one for christmas and plan to make another one for Easter. Ruggedbutts has some simple cotton vests and cardigans. They have their own website but also sell them on Amazon.
