2WW Check-In 12/14

Hi Ladies,

I just wanted to go ahead and start the thread one last time, so everyone can check if they'd like.  I believe everyone except for girlie has a beta today (I forget when tracie's is, so that may be tomorrow as well).  Since the 2WW for this group officially ends tomorrow, I'll let any stragglers go ahead and post their results individually, unless they prefer to use this thread title.

Quick post-2WW check-in for me.  I had beta #2 today, and it was 234, which is just shy of double (#1 was 119).  For DD, my level went up 2.75 times from the 1st to 2nd beta.  I wanted to throat punch the nurse for saying "what is meant to be will be" when I asked her if I should be concerned.  Lucky for her, we spoke by phone.

The RE doesn't seem concerned though, so we are moving ahead with beta #3 and 1st u/s next Friday morning.  I am cautiously optimistic that all is well, because I do still have some spotting.

I had them test my thyroid level, because I have been hypothyroid for a couple decades now, and last pregnancy, my levels rose pretty quickly.  This time was no exception.  I think it was well under 1.0 before ER/ET, and today it was 2.51, which is actually a good thing for me, in the sense that it must mean there is a baby in there using up all my meds!

I'm wishing continued BFPs and strong betas to kimber and girlieface, and sending hugs and support to Erin, Jeanna, and Tracie.

  • Just got my beta results.  169!  She said that was really good and I go back Monday to do another one.  Hoping it doubles!  Yay!

Nawlins - I assume your nurse thought she was being nice by saying what is meant to be will be...but ugh..seriously?  That would upset me too.  I'm glad your RE isn't concerned.  Hope everything continues to go well for you!

  • Congratulations, that's an awesomely reassuring number, not that we were worried!  Are you going back for your next beta on Sunday, or waiting until Monday?

I'm doing a little better about my # today, now that I have read it just needs to double between 48-72 hours.  I ran the stats and mine doubled at 49.20 hours, so that's good enough in my book!

I go back Monday.  My office doesn't typically do bloodwork on weekends unless it is time sensitive..then they send you to a lab.

Don't stress about your number!  That sounds great!  I know it's easier said than done, since I am stressing about my own and have no reason to as of yet!

  • Naw:  I think your beta is great!! Lets hope that spotting dries up!  Be gone spotting!!!

Kimber and Girlie: huge congrats and lots of doubling to both of you!!!

my update:  I got a personal phone call from my RE.  He is saving us some money not having to come in for a face consult.  He never said the words that it failed or negative, but he reviewed my whole history with me.  He confirmed my original guess that bad eggs are why we are not PG.  Nawlin, sounds like they are putting me on something similar to what you were on this cycle.  I would love to chat with you more about it.  2 shots a day, "lupron flair therapy technique". I, also, got a list of vitamins and supplements that I am going out tonight to purchase.  He said we need to wake up my ovaries.

I scheduled the IVF repeat nurse class for Monday. I am to start BCP's on Sunday. IVF #2 here we come.  Now I just need to talk DH into letting me start it ASAP instead of waiting 3 months like he wants too!  He said to schedule the apt and we would talk more about it tonight.  Not that he is going to have a lot of time b/c he is playing a gig.

  • Thanks for the support, Jeanna, I'm starting to feel better about things, and just hoping for a good u/s next week.  Gonna do my best not to worry until then, since there's nothing I can do until then anyway.

Sorry, as always, that this wasn't your cycle.  Of course, I'm more than happy to talk you through your new protocol, and answer any questions you have.  It's still very fresh in my mind, and I have my spreadsheet with all my stats ready to go!

It's really not much different than a regular antagonist protocol.  You just leave out the ganirelix and add the lupron twice daily.  It's clearly a lot more shots due to the lupron, but it's a low dose, so hopefully you won't have any side effects from it, other than some very mild headaches.

How long were you on BCPs?  My RE felt I might have been oversuppressed the first time, which was part of the reason for the microflare lupron.  But, she also had me on BCPs for a much shorter time.  I was on them for around 3 weeks last time (I can look it up later if you want specific), and this time only 13 days.

Those are the highlights of my info/tips for right now, but ask me any questions you have now and along the way.  I hope you get to start sooner rather than later now that you've got a new protocol to work with!

  • I started spotting a couple days ago and today am going through a tampon every hour.  The cramps are amazingly painful as well.  They still want me to come in for a beta but I laughed and said no.  Proud of myself that I didn't actually say what I wanted to.  I know its not their fault this failed but its nice to have someone to blame.  When I think that I paid $14,000 to feel like this it makes me laugh like a crazy person.  I guess its to keep me from crying any more.  Wanted to talk to RE but she doesn't work on fridays.  So I will wait until Monday.

Jeanna, I am in the same boat as you.  My eggs are crap.  My RE said a couple weeks back she would probably start me on the same meds (bravella/menopur) but start the bravella at a higher dose from the start.  And trigger with HCG instead of lupron (since of the 8 eggs only 2 were mature).  My question for you is- what vitamins/doses is your RE recommending?  And from what I have read, you need to be on the vitamins for 3 months for them to have any effect.  I am assuming your RE doesn't agree because you are cycling right away?  I am a little envious of you because it would be nice to get this next cycle over quicker and get my BFP.  But, I need a break for a couple months and want to change my diet/take the supplements for a little while.

Congrats to the ladies that got their BFPs!!!! You guys are inspiring and I hope in the next couple months we will all be there.

  • Ok, that last one was me (Tracie).  I logged on from work but apparently I have two accounts.  Must have accidently used my new email address.  Sorry!

I did ask my RE that question about how long I needed to take the vitamins he said that it should be in my system but the time we start.  I kinda of thought the same thing about needing a couple of months to really get them into my body.

    He put me on:

    Q-10: 200mg

    DHEA: 50mg

    Vit D3: 2000mg

I am headed to Wally World in a bit to pick them all up!  I hope this helps!  What did your RE put you on??

  • I haven't got to talk to her yet. She is on vacation or something. Frustrating! I will let you know monday what she says. I have read of a lot of people taking the supplements 23x a day. Are you just doing one dose a day? It makes sense that they would be in your system and maybe waiting 3 months is overkill. But I will let you know for sure on Monday what she says.
