Friday Fluff

If you are in a relationship, what gift (regardless of holiday) would you LOVE to get your partner?  If you are single, what would you most like to receive?

Re: Friday Fluff

A child, but since this is Friday Fluff, I will provide a material option.

BMW has a program called European Delivery.  You buy and pick up your BMW in Munich, drive it around Europe for as long as you like, and then BMW will ship it back to the States for you when you're done.  My ILs did it recently and had a blast.  Please note that we can afford neither a BMW NOR a European vacation, so this is a total fantasy gift.  When my wife and I had the "What would we do if we won the PowerBall Jackpot" conversation, this was near the top of her list.

If we had just a little more disposable cash, I would buy her a flat screen TV.  Our current TV dates back to the early 2000s but works well enough that we haven't been able to justify a new one, and I know she hates it.  She's currently saving up Amazon.com gift cards for it, but I'd like to buy it for her outright.

In Real Life, I did buy her a pretty nice watch, which I think she will love.

I would really love to get M a trip just the two of us.  We have taken several vacations but they have always been with our families and not really optimal for us to spend time and do our own thing.

Financially it has never been in the cards and when it was, we put those resources towards expanding our family.  I know that with the twins on the way, this trip will have to be put on hold for more years to come.

We had set some money aside to do a baby moon, just the two of us but between a twin pregnancy, our jobs and other things this year it just didn't pan out.

A magical ability to lose weight? (Clarification: not because I want her to, but SHE wants to and has been unsuccessful until recently and she feels so much better about herself when she does.

More hours in her day? She is up at 4:30 everyday and goes nonstop till she crashes at 9.

Her dissertation to be completely done? :)

In reality, I would love to take a trip...just the two of us. In nearly 13y, we've never done this. Every vacation has been centered around visiting family/friends/a work conference. I would love to have a week, just for us with no agenda, no plans, just relaxing time to read, hang out, nap, and ......

haha - I think what my partner may want most of all these days is for money not to be an issue so that we just move on to partner-ivf with her eggs and my body!

But, also - because this is the fluff thread - if I could give my partner a gift right now I would book us a series of weeks away at the cottage we like to rent, one for every season in 2013.

I would love all these travel gifts you guys are thinking of!

But, my wife is a foodie. She'd much rather stay home and spend the money on an amazing meal.  So, I'd get her a really nice steak dinner somewhere I would not normally pay to go!

If I could get her anything I would want to get her season tickets to the Packers. I know this is not reality since people will their season tickets to other people, so I would be happy to get her tickets to a game. We will do this some day.

I would love a family trip somewhere, probably Disney. I know this is again something we will do someday, but I would love it now. :)

I was pricing these out the other day for one of those stay on the grounds, meals, passes to all parks, and everyhting included and it was like 2700 not including airfare...I am shooting for 2014 lol

A new wardrobe. Specifically, a $1000 gift card to each of Brooks Brothers, Nordstrom's, Ann Taylor, J. Crew, Pink, and a tailor to have everything altered.

She hates shopping but loves suits and high-quality business clothes. Alas almost all of our clothes come from Target, Old Navy and outlet malls :)

Oh Wow.  So many of the things that would make a real difference for her aren't really material things ... I would LOVE to have a renter in the house that she owns (it's OUR responsibility, but I know it stresses her out more than anything).  I'd love to change her work hours so that she doesn't have to get up at 4am every day just to get home at 6pm.

More realistic (though still not realistic because I don't have the money) would be to set up a couple pre-paid accounts for her with some local health practicioners.  Chiropractor, Massage Therapist, MAT Specialist ... so she could just schedule them all in for a few months, go, feel great, and not worry about it.

I would get her a trip to Australia and NZ. It's been a dream and while we amazingly have the airline miles, we don't have the cash for the rest of it (time off work, lodging, food, etc) and with the baby coming in 2013 it most likely won't happen until spring 2014 at the earliest and then it will be with a small one in tow.

I would pay to fly singersong writer Kate Reid to Toronto to play at our Love Party.
And I would take my love to Hawaii.
And I would buy her the 300 leather bag she wants but doesn't want us to spend the money. And I would buy so many vials of sperm that we could keep trying until she got pregnant or got tired. :
