Friends of mine just had a second baby girl. They named her Leigh.ton Kane. Had I not known they were having a girl I would have assumed it was a boy. Sad since the older sister has a perfectly nice name, Leia Jo.ye.

Leighton is on our short list for a girl so I wouldn't side eye it. But we have every intention of pairing it with a girly middle name!

Leia and Leighton?  Good grief.  Those are entirely too close for sibling names and Leighton is pretty awful anyway.

I like the name.. i never would have thought it was a boys name.. the actress who plays Blair on Gossip Girl is Leighton... that's the only association I have with it.

I like the name fine, but Leia and Leighton is really close.  I don't like those names for siblings

Well, Leia was after P rincess Leia from Star Wars (dad is a huge Star Wars fan).  No idea where Leighton came from.  I guess this spelling is considered feminine, because of the -leigh, but I've known several guys named Layton, so it's very masculine to me.

Yeah, I have a bit of a girl crush on Leighton Meester so I like the name. I've actually never heard the name Leighton/Layton for a boy.
