feed herself. We literally fight over the spoon during solid feedings. I would let her feed herself but she uses the wrong side of the spoon, I've tried flipping it over but she doesn't like it that way. When is she supossed to start feeding herself?

DD's been feeding herself since 5.5 months.  I do BLW so she has never been spoon fed...   Babies get most of their nutrition from BM or formula still at this point so it's all a learning process.  Now at 7 months she gets a fair bit of it in her mouth.   I pre-load spoons sometimes and pass it to her if it's something like yogurt.  Or let her dip her fingers in it to eat.  It's really messy, but that doesn't really bother me.  She doesn't make half the mess she made in the beginning.

If you are worried about her eating x number of spoonfuls, why don't you feed her some and then give her the spoon to play?

Yes, I usually give up after he's had so much and let him play with the spoon. LOL try again later if I don't think he got enough! (: babies will be babies

DD does that sometimes, although not too often.  When she does, I give DD her own plastic spoon to play with while I feed her.  Every time she opens her mouth to put her spoon in, I put a spoonful of food in.  Works pretty well.

same. I get out two spoons and let her play with one.  She just seems to want whatever I have in my hand.
