Okay, I'm a little paranoid. I read an article in Parents (or was it Parenting?) magazine about overweight children and the kid's diet was shockingly similar to J's. Chicken nuggets, M&C, etc.
So I've been wholly better about feeding him healthy things and for snacks, giving zucchini bread (light on the sugar) and fruit rather than goldfish and stuff like that.
But I think he's actually starting to get a bit chubby. I mean, chubbier than our chubby-but-getting-leaner toddler, if that makes sense.
I worry because of his past diet, the amount of TV he's had recently what with my pregnancy and then having a newborn AND MH was a fat kid.
Tell me that it's normal for 2 year olds to be a bit chubby. Right?
Re: My toddler is getting chubby
DD has always been so skinny, I HOPE she's chubby at some point!
As long as you are feeding him properly and he isn't only eating nuggets, M&C, and crap food, then he should be ok. TV now with the new baby is a temporary thing, soon they will be playing tag around the house. The most important thing is establishing healthy eating habits, though...
He's perfect. I get those magazines, scan for Gymbo/J&J coupons and then throw them out, because they always leave me feeling badly about some choice that I've made.
Your doc (and I KNOW this) would have said something if he was even remotely worried about J's size. The fact that your DH battled with this is enough motivation to make sure he's moving around a lot, and just keep an eye on it.
From the pics, and I said this initially, he looks perfect. Like a two year old should.
