This question is probably going to be so dumb. But, we are just starting to look into getting a new car seat. He is about 19lbs and will be needing a bigger one soon. We have the Chicco Keyfit now and bought an extra base for my husband's truck. My question is...do the convertible car seats go onto a base also so we can just buy an additional one...or are we going to have to buy 2 car seats, one for each vehicle? This probably is a silly question...I just haven't looked into the convertible car seats much.
Thanks!
Re: Car seat question!
I don't think this is a silly question. I'm almost positive you'll need one for each car unless you want to constantly be switching between the cars.

Can't the Chicco Keyfit be used up until 30lbs?
This is us too! DS is 17.5 lbs, but very long. His little feet hang over the end.
I got good info about convertable car seats on the baby gear board.
In case you want to get more use out of your infant seat, the issue isn't at all with their leg length. Their legs will hang off the end of a convertible in time as well. The "height" really only matters when you're measuring their seated height. So if you child is tall but most of their height is in their legs, their head probably isn't near the top of the shell (read your manual for how close to the top of the shell their heads can be).
