IT men....

How many of us have IT men as Hubbys on this board? And why is it that IT hubbys are willing to drive so far for work? My hubby has drove a hour+ for years and now only since W was born has he gotten under an hour commute. He is at 35-45mins right now.

My hubby is IT manager at a smallish company. The IT department is him and a friend of his he go hired this year. Sigh he does everything at all hours. Even when he is home he's on call to fix the issues that come up. My daughter has gone to bed lots of time without see her dad because he is working either at home or away at work. Being an IT wife isn't easy!

Husband is a Network Administrator.  He only has a 5 minute commute though.  LOL

Mine is a software engineer for the hospital we both work at. He works from home some days so that he can spend time with us. He especially likes llikes getting to have lunch with us.

My husband is a database developer for a software company and he has an hour + commute one way. When he works late DD doesn't get to see him before bedtime. It sucks and we're planning on moving within the next year because of it.

My husband is not in IT but we are in a similar boat...  He's an engineer and in our last place drove 1.5 hrs each way to work.  In our new house it's around 45 minutes - great improvement!  But yes, there are many nights he either skids in the driveway just in time to tuck her in, or he doesn't see her.    It's a long day for mama too when you don't have someone to pinch hit in the early evening while you do dinner, etc.  Plus, I miss my husband during the week!  Maybe we need a support group .

My DH is a web developer, he works pretty regular hours, although there are times that he comes home a little later because he is working on a project.  His commute is 40 minutes, but can be worse with traffic.  He loves his job but hates the commute.  There have definitely been days where he doesn't even get to see dd when he gets home because she is already sleeping.
