October 2011 Moms

I didn't know this was hereditary.

Yep.  It turns out that being a geek is hereditary.  We suspected something when my daughter, who is afraid of the Lion King, could happily watch Stargate Atlantis without fear.  Things were confirmed this morning when I turned on Star Trek TNG and Scarlett said "Yay!!!"  When the ship gets ready to jump into warp she counts down.  DS?  Well he laughs and claps whenever he sees Patrick Stewart.

Ummmm....What. Have. I. Done?

  • Haha. Adorable.

DH has a whole plan worked out for the way he will introduce DD to Star Wars. I'm hoping he can geek her out until she leaves for college so boy won't want to put their thing in her. That's practical, right?

  • It doesn't work that way.  I spoke geek in High School.  Geeks followed me around.  In the end there are always guys who will want to do that.  Sorry.

My husband has told me that the kids are not allowed to watch the new episodes of Star Wars first.  They have to watch the original ones first so that the "i am your father" moment is a surprise.  He is adamant about it.  In fact when I was in the hospital with DD he told me that it was a deal breaker.  He had to be the one to introduce Star Wars and that it had to be done his way.

DH refuses to acknowledge the new episodes and doesn't want DD to watch them at all. He plans to show her episodes IV - VI in half hours blocks so they can discuss afterwards. Seriously.
