BBT regularly below 97?

Hi Ladies -

Do any of you frequently have temps below 97.0 degrees? Brand new to charting and remembered seeing in TCOYF that low temps could mean a thyroid issue. I am so new to charting that I don't want to jump to conclusions and if I see this continuing I will definitely contact my OB, but just putting this out there to see if others have lower than average temps. 7 of the 14 temps I've taken are below 97. Also I've had EWCM for a week now so I thought that was possibly unusual although it's shifted from EW to watery at this point. (TMI? sorry!) No thermal shift so far and as EWCM started my temps have actually been lower. Still just learning about my body so I don't know what's "normal" for me yet and between having mirena removed and BFing I know there are other factors at play.

Background info: Posted an intro a couple days ago. Had mirena removed 11/27 and started temping that week. TTA this month to get things back to normal for a cycle before TTC. Still BFing my 17 month old. Not using FF for my charting but will be next cycle so I can't currently link to my chart, sorry.

Thanks!

My pre-O BBT temps are typically between 96.70 - 96.93 (sometimes they'll jump to 97.05).  I was concerned about the low temps as well but I had 7DPO bloodwork (for other reasons not temp related) and my doc did not find any thyroid issues based on the results.  She said that I may just run cooler than some other people.  That being said, I started seeing an acupuncturist recently and she wants my pre-O and post-O temps to be higher.

I wouldn't worry about the temps right now as you have just started the charting process.  Give it a couple of months to see the trend as those temps might just be the normal range for you.

I suffer from hypothryroidism and I have lower temps before O - usually range between 95.15 and 96.18 - after O they go up to 97 - highest being 98.19. My thyroid levels are under control with medication, but if you want to check yours out it's as simple as having your PCP run annual bloodwork up - I wish I would have done it sooner to detect my thyroid issue.

Thanks, Ladies. That's all I needed to hear was that having a lower range is not unusual. Will just keep at charting. We'll see if/when I am O'ing while BFing.  :)

I'm also consistently under 97 prior to O.

Hmm, I had my annual bloodwork done with my PCP back in October, but I'm not sure if these levels were checked. I know whatever they ran came back normal, but not sure if this is part of their routine tests. I should probably just give them a call. Thanks!

Yikes I had no idea that lower temps could mean a thyroid issue. My pre-O temps are usually under 97.0 and post-O are above. I've never had my thyroid checked before.

I've been in the 95s for most of this cycle. HTH

My temps are generally pretty low, I think its partly because I mouth breath. After O however they shoot up.

I know you've already had several similar responses, but just thought I'd add: my pre-O temps are always under 97.  I had bloodwork done last month and no thyroid issues detected. HTH! :)

When I was temping orally (I temp vaginally now) my pre-O temps were usually below 97. Due to my mom having thyroid issues, I've had mine checked several times and have never had a problem. It will take a couple cycles of charting to get a feel for what's normal for you.
