Major Confession:
Mason is now over 16 months old, and I just finally got his birth certificate today. And I don't mean that I finally got a copy ... I finally actually signed his birth certificate and made it official.
Want to know why it took so long? Because it was a pain in the a$$!!! It took 1 1/2 hours to get into Boston City Hall. It was a freezing cold walk in the city once I finally parked. Mason was miserable. It cost $62, and it will cost another $62 to add J as the father (he couldn't make it in with me today.) I paid $24 for one hour of city parking (no meters in that part of the city.) Then it took over two hours to get home in stupid traffic. With a miserable toddler.
I am hoping that the hospital I deliver at this time makes it easier.
Anyone else wait an extended time to file for their BC?

Re: Birth Certificate
Pretty sure they did it all at the hospital, and then I got it mailed to me a few weeks later?
I don't remember having to do anything else.

Wow, yes I think you did. I thought it was BS that we didn't automatically get a copy and I had to request one, but now I am glad it was all done at the hospital. I think because we already knew her name our paperwork was all filled out before her birth. Then after she was born they just inputted the date and time and it was done. It did take me 11mo to get a copy though. I lost the paperwork to mail-in a request and was to lazy to go to the registrars office and get one.
Yep, this for me too. You definitely got a raw deal there!
Jess & Adam, married 2009, precious Audrey born in 2011. BFP 1/6/13, 6-wk MMC discovered at 9 wks 2/11/13. D&C 2/18/13, second D&C 4/23/13 for retained placenta.
BFP 8/24/13!! EDD 5/1/14, delivered healthy and sweet Zoey Leanne on 5/5/14 by repeat c-section.
We filled everything out in the hospital and we're given paperwork to mail in to get copies. I mailed it in when he was a few weeks old and got a couple of copies.
I'm surprised you didn't have a ssn or anything on him yet. We needed DS's ssn for taxes (you stated you hadn't filed yet) and to get him put on our insurance.
This is what we did. We filled out the paperwork before we were discharged.
We'll miss you sweet Debbie Girl (4.21.12) and sweet Cindy Girl (8.9.12)
