Scary and sad!

About 20min ago, there was all mall shooting. So scary and I feel so awful for the families of any victims. It's all over the news, they are still trying to piece everything together. I cannot imagine...it's a very big and busy mall....and with holiday shoppers I am sure the place was packed. All they know from a few witnesses is that they believe about 60 rounds were shot by someone that looked like a teen, wearing a mask, camo, bullet proof vest, and carrying a assault rifle.

One word: amazon. Amazon for all my holiday shopping. The malls are too nutty for me at this time of year, even without masked gunmen!

Portland, OR.

They first said 60 rounds but as info is coming in, they have lowered that. It is confirmed two dead and four injured...so far. Whole mall and area around is in lockdown. People are still in there hiding. I have been watching the news since right after it happened, and as far as I have heard, they still don't know if the gunman has been caught. One guy in building said he saw two people get shot, newsanchors asked if he knew how bad, he said they had to cover them with sheets from the store...so I am guessing those are the two deceased victims.

That's terrible...I can't even imagine how scared the people in hiding are right now.

It scares me to a point of paranoia sometimes.  Since becoming a parent, my anxiety over crazy stuff like this becomes more real.  I don't understand why people find it necessary to take innocent lives down in their personal demise.  I understand mental illness is real, and there are people that fall through the cracks sometimes.  My former job worked with mentally ill individuals, and they really do struggle ensuring their well-being.  There have been a lot of horrible events occur even locally here in Iowa.  They just found the bodies of two little girls that went missing this summer.  I can't imagine how anyone could take the lives of children. It is absolutely disgusting and horrifying.  I can only imagine what the families of any of the above victims must go through.  Losing someone is difficult enough.
