How did you teach your child (mine is 4) how to put their shoes on the right feet? I'm at a loss and what we've told her apparently isn't helping b/c she still doesn't put them on the right feet..I keep telling her it should feel funny when they are on the wrong feet but I guess that isn't the case b/c she'll be walking around with them on the wrong ones!

We talked about how his big toes stick out and the meet in the middle and then I showed him how to make his shoes meet in the middle.  We also talked about how the velcro closes on the outside.  It didn't take long for him to figure it out.

My kids know L/R  hands by putting them up- left hand makes an L, right one makes _|.  So on the bottom of the left shoe I would draw an L with Sharpie.  Then they can do it themselves.  My 5 yr old hasn't needed that in a while, but my 3 yr olds do.  When we are not rushing out the door, I will show them the shape of their feet next to the shoes, but for now the cheat is critical to getting out the door.

I don't recall this being a huge issue with my kids but I know my 6 year olds winter boots are impossible to tell so I tell her to just put them on and she has yet to complain.  I just line them up for the girls so they see how they should go and if they have shoes with zippers or things like that, I use that as clues.  They have Ugg style boots that have zippers that go on the inside so that helps them.  For the most part, they have just figured it out once they have them on.
