Pregnant after 35

What is Zopran

Hi ladies i was just reading a post about nausea and several of you mentioned zopran. I had just popped on here to post my nausea vent and see if anyone had any suggestions.

It's ALL DAY LONG, DAY AFTER DAY.... argh.. just want to feel like a human being again.

Is this an over the counter or did you get it from the doc?

Re: What is Zopran

  • I think it's Zofran, and it is a prescription medication.

  • It is the best drug on earth, if it works for you. I could barely get off the couch and after talking zofran I was able to function again? I however did get awful constipation from it and a bad headache in the afternoon. But until 3 o'clock everyday it was a huge improvement.
  • If you are looking for over the counter, you can take unisom and B6.

  • thanks, ladies. I'll ask the doc about it and thanks for the over the counter suggestions. This is my fourth pregancy and I've never felt this sick.

  • I had HORRIBLE morning sickness (well...more like all day sickness). I tried the Unisom B6 combo and it didn't touch it.

I called the OB and they prescribed me Zofran and let me tell you. MIRACLE drug!!!! I still had food aversions but the actual vomiting and constant nausea was almost non existent.

I also got constipated so make sure that you do what works for you to ease that side effect. I know a lot of ladies used Colace.

When I had my first LO (back in 1997) Zofran was not available and I lost 40 pounds.

I had just about the opposite effects as this. The unisom/b6 helped me MUCH more than the Zofran did.  And I was taking 8mg of Zofran twice a day... definitely needed it to help with vomitting but the Unisom helped a lot more with the constant queaziness.  Fortunately it didn't make me constipated which is about the only nice thing I can say about my first trimester ;)

It's worth a try if it works for you!

  • I tried Zofran... It worked wonderfully, but the constipation was unlike anything I had ever experienced. I had to stop taking it as a result, and instead switched my prenatals. I feel much less nauseous now.
