Has anyone ever done a natural birth at Fairview? What was your experience like? I'm strongly considering going for a natural birth, but I am going to be at Fairview. Any help is appreciated!
I see that you posted this a long time ago, so I'm not sure if you're still looking for insight, but I saw you didn't get any responses so I wanted to answer you. I didn't have a natural birth, but I did have my daughter at Fairview. They were wonderful to me, the nurses were great! They had a lot of equipment to aid the natural progression of labor, so I'd be surprised if you had a bad experience or felt pressured into pain medication or anything that wasn't in the best interest of you and your child. They had birthing balls, 2 of the rooms have whirlpool tubs (they do try to honor requests, but it's on first come first served and room availability). They got me up out of bed and encouraged me to walk and to try a lot of different positions to help keep my labor moving. I think that if you've discussed your wishes with your OB ahead of time, and then communicate with the nursing staff when you arrive that you should be in good shape.
Thank you!! My sister had her son at Fairview 2 years ago, so I do know the nursing staff is really friendly, but I was looking at it from a totally different perspective at that point! This information is really helpful - especially if they have all that equipment. I did know that at least one of the rooms has a whirlpool tub (didn't know it was 2!) so that is awesome.
I have talked (briefly) with my OB about what I want, but I'm still 15 weeks away from my due date so I've got some time. Mostly I just want to feel like my wishes are respected, and it sounds like that can definitely happen there.
Glad to hear you had a good experience there! Thanks again for replying.
