This weekend our dd started telling us "poo poo" when she needs her diaper changed. Then just yesterday she began removing her pants and diaper during nap, while playing in the living room, and overnight last night. What a mess! This is very different from my boy, so I'm not sure but isn't this a sign of her readiness? She's also cloth diapered, which he wasn't so supposedly she will train earlier cuz she actually feels wet. But she even took off a disposable yesterday too.
Here are my issues. Christmas is 3 weeks away, I'm due to give birth in 5 weeks w my 3rd (I'm worried about regression when new baby comes), and dd is not exactly able to communicate so much. She's in early intervention for speech and recently failed her hearing test. Is scheduled for adnoid xray, ent follow up in early Jan, and poss surgery, either tubes or adnoidectomy.
My question is do I just do this since she's ready w all this going on? And second, my son never cared about being dirty/clean so I have no clue what to do about this night time diaper removal thing. Even if she day trains, there's no way a kid can night train at the same time right? She's still in a crib not climbing out. I can't see her just escorting herself to the potty at night.
Re: 2 yr old ready to PT but am I?
Are you opposed to disposable diapers? Maybe try buying the pull ups for her to practice until you have time to go cold turkey on big girl panties. Also, we use the sign language for potty too. You can try sitting her on the potty before bath time when she wakes up and gradually increase the sittings if she's catching on. I would still use diapers at night until she begins to wake up dry.
Yes, DD1 was day/night PT at the same time. It can happen.
Personally, I would start putting her on the potty if she says she has to go, but I wouldn't push it any more than that. DD2 started telling us before she had to go right when she turned 2. I put her on the potty if she told me, but I left her in diapers. She went through a phase where she didn't want to sit on the potty anymore, so we went back to diapers for a while and then tried again when she was older. I don't think it has to be an all or nothing thing, and I don't think it can hurt to introduce the potty. I just wouldn't go full force with potty training with so much going on.
IME, night training does not coincide with day training at all. DD1 was a super heavy sleeper and didn't start waking up at night to go to the bathroom until she turned 6. It just clicked one day, and she hasn't had a major accident at night since. (She wore pull ups or goodnites up until that point.) DD2 is day trained now but still wakes up wet in the mornings. I figure she'll get there when she's ready. For now we just use a diaper at night.

I went through this will my DDin the begining of 2, Potty training has been on and off since then. We are finally at the potty training fully, but if I didn't put a pull up on her she for some reason wouldn't tell me she needed to go. I vowed that she would be Potty trainined by March for her 3rd birthday and before the new baby comes on March 17th.
DD goes to the potty on her own she tells me after she is done. I would put her in a toddler bed or twin by now. I put DD in her big girl bed at 18 months, but that was because she was a Dare Devil. Once you do move her to a bigger bed put the potty in her room at night.
DD had tubes put in July 2011, she's a little better about listening and hearing but it's been a struggle to get her where she is.
