Toddlers: 24 Months+

one month in the toddler bed and still issues-help!

DD has been in her toddler bed for almost four weeks now. In the beginning, she woke up quite a bit at night, but now she doesn't do it that frequently. The problem we're having now is that she's waking up at 4:45AM and wanting to get up. It would be one thing if she'd quietly play in her room or read books, but she wants us with her every minute until we will take her downstairs. She used to sleep 11-12 hours at night and now she's only getting 9 or maybe 10. She is still napping 2 hours, which has also been a pain since transitioning to the toddler bed, as I still have to sit with her so she doesn't get up and play the entire time. Any advice?

  • try using a wakeup alarm thing. it's worked for us. my write up on it is back when she was still in a crib, but she's moved out of the crib and it still works.

  • I am having issues too. My LO wont fall asleep unless I am laying with him. Then he wakes in the night and wants to play(even if I lay with him). I ve been up since 3:30am. I am a zombie at work. I told my sitter not to let him nap more than 2 hours. Seriously, what can we do?

I've seen clocks with a similar idea, but I don't think that my LO will understand it. However, I may still give it a try.

  • We too have only been in the toddle bed for a few weeks, but we had to also set the crib back up.  The room is SUPER tight with a crib AND toddler bed, but we had to!  DS was fighting me so much at first cause he wanted to sleep with us in our room (we use to co-sleep some too).  So I told him that if he gets off his bed, he then goes straight to his crib.....he hated that and it took 3-4 times, but now he will NOT get off his bed unless I am there.  At first he started just crying for me when he woke up.  Then I would leave a train or book on the foot of his bed....now he wakes up and will play with the train or read the book until I come in.  It's only been working great for the last 4-5 days, so I hope this continues!!!  Good Luck!!!
