Crib transition(Vent)

So our transition to crib is going crappy. We've been trying to take naps in the crib during the day but she doesn't want anything to do with it. I will put her down swaddled and asleep and within 2 mins she is awake. I've tried. staying there next to her, elevating her mattress, white noise, letting her lay there till she falls back to sleep...well that never happens but I have tried. She won't even sleep in her RnP when its in her room.

She will sleep in our bed laying flat on her back...I usually let her do this in the morning when DH is up getting ready for work. And she will sleep flat on her back on the couch...I let her do this while I'm bumping. But she won't sleep in her crib.

I would really like to get her transitioned before I go back to work...which will be at the end of the month. But I don't know what else to do. I guess we just need to try a couple of night in her room and see how it goes. Hello air mattress!

Re: Crib transition(Vent)

  • I'm sorry, it'd be nice if they could just enjoy having their own space! I can't get DS to sleep for more than 30 min in his crib for naps and I'm very hesitant to mess up our nighttime routine by doing the transition to his own room, although at 11 months I do think its about time... I just keep telling myself until we finish remodeling and move rooms around, it doesn't make sense to move him where Dh will wake him up banging around in the morning with the lights shining right into his room. Dh teases that he's going to be in our room till he's 16, but he doesn't seem overly ambitious to move him either. Although the air mattress idea isn't a bad one... sadly I'd probably sleep more since I wouldn't have to listen to Dh snore, lol!

At least you can get a short nap out of him. I will probably sleep better too on the air mattress because of DH snoring. I've had to wake him up the last 3 nights because he was out of control!

  • **Hugs** Sorry hun...No real advice because our initial crib problem was he wasn't happy flat on his back. Maybe it's the actual mattress? I know even after Eli was fine on his back, he still wouldn't stay in his bassinet and we think it's because of the mattress being uncomfortable to him.

  • Hugs. I hope it gets easier soon. We still have yet to do naps in her crib but transitioned with the RnP in her room first for a week then to the crib. The first 2 nights she needed rocked then after that she was fine. She does wake up a lot because she moves a lot but luckily she falls back asleep quickly on her own. I hope the crib works out for you and LO and the air mattress isn't a bad idea!!

  • I was in the same boat wanting to transition before I went back to work.  DS was in the RnP for his reflux.  Everynight I would try the crib and sometimes he would stay asleep longer than others.  It took about 2 weeks until we got a good routine and then Bam! one night he slept until his 2am feeding.  It was downhill after that (about 4 mos).  GL! That part stinks!
