Intro- questions

Hey ladies,

I'm 27 and DH is 29,  We have been TTC for 13 months. We both work as RN's.

About Jan to April I realized my LP was only 10-11 days, so I figured that's why we weren't getting pregnant. Turns out my TSH was 0.007 and I was sent to an endo.  I was diagnosed with thyroiditis.  After my TSH went high I was put on synthroid.  Now my LP is 13-14 days again. I ovulate every month- I think (opks, temping, CM) and have regular cycles.

DH had an SA done  Count 20 mil/ml, Morph 35%, Mot 70's%.  We found out his testosterone is very low 320 (range 300-1000).  He has a low libido, doesn't have to shave much, has trouble keeping an erection, low energy, and easy to gain wt.  He went to an endo and the Dr just told him to lose wt.  He was born with an undescended testicle and was fixed late- 4 y/o. 

I just don't know what to do. Should he go to a urologist?  I've heard clomid can raise testosterone without damaging sperm. Should I get a workup done too? (the labs, hsg, etc)  Does an RE treat just the female or the couple? 

I am just getting very frustrated.  I cry every time someone else anounces their pregnancy.  I know your cases are probably worse, but thanks for listening (reading) and for any advice.

    First of all, welcome to the board.  It sucks that we have to be here, but the ladies on this board are awfully nice!

    Secondly, if I were you, I'd go to an RE for a full fertility work up.  My RE ran tests on both of us (just a semen analysis for DH), but the  RE will be able to tell you whether your DH needs to go to the urologist or not.

    I agree with PP about you seeing an RE.  As for the uro for your DH - I don't think it could hurt to see what one who specializes in MFI would say...

    I'm so sorry you have to be here. It sucks! But we all help each other out here, so you came to the right place. Your next step is the RE like PP said. I wish you the best! There are some great ladies here who have been through alot and they will be able to help you out. Hang in there in the meantime!

    First off, welcome to the board! I hope your stay is short. 

    I agree with everything PP said about going to a RE and getting a full work up for both of you. Regardless of your DH's issues, you also should be aware of your own.  And I agree too that your RE should be able to point you in the direction of a uro should be need one. Good Luck!!

    If you go to a urologist I strongly suggest one that specializes in MFI.  Our uro was nice, but worthless.  GOOD LUCK! 
    TTC since Aug 2011, RE since May 2012. Dx: PCOS,endo, postprandial hypoglycemia DH: SA 1 - low everything, 2- low everything, 3 - good, but WBC, 4 - lost and/or damaged at lab, 5 - low everything July - Letrozole + TI = BFN Aug - letrozole #2 + TI = BFN Sep - NEW RE!! YAY!!!! Move to IVF w/ICSI - ER on Nov 28 - 34 eggs! 2 day report - 26 successfully fertilized! 13 of 26 frozen at 3 days. 5dt of 2 best remaining eggs!     Hi and welcome! Sorry you have to be here.  I agree with the PP's as well, perfect advice.  My DH is going to a urologist soon and he has similar testosterone levels as your DH and I'm thinking he'll be put on Clomid too...hope it works for both of us! GL to you!

    Welcome to the board.  I agree with PPs, definitely see a RE to get yourself checked out as well as a urologist for your husband.  Good Luck!

    Dx shortened cervix, PTL, and preeclampsia during pregnancy.  Lots of medications and 13 weeks of bedrest, babies were born healthy at 34w4d!

    Welcome to the board.  We are dealing with LPD and MFI.  Try not to compare "who's worse off" because hey, we're all dealing with inability to get PG so we're all in a similar boat.  

    Yes - I would go to an RE for the full work up.  I am happy that with treatment on your thyroid they were able to extend your LP but you may still be dealing with low progesterone or weak ovulation, you may have blocked tubes, etc. Who knows? That's why a full work up is important because there are people who deal with a few factors.  

    And while your DH just made the cut off for "official" MFI dx with a 20mil count it's just barely squeaking by so I'd talk to RE about possibly going to see an MFI Uro.  In the mean time, get him on Fertility Blend for Men and Co-Q10 200mg and have another S/A done in three months.  

    Hope you two find luck soon, but if not - this board is a great place to learn, get support, and have eFriends who "get it".
