My wonderful husband seems to HATE every name!!! Here is what we have so far. For a boy the middle name is definitely going to be Ryan (after DH). The only boy name he has liked so far is Eli. Which I like too and Eli Ryan sounds fine together. The problem is it is becoming really popular and we have a few friends( more like acquaintances) who have boys named Eli. For a girl we wanted Lynn for the middle because that's my middle name. Well then we heard the name Rilynn (Grace?) and thought that it would be a great combo of our names. Only problem is my husbands family and myself call him Ry. I would also call baby girl Ri and I'm afraid of confusion.( almost like a Jr. situation.) Any other thoughts for our middle name suggestions and am I being crazy for the reasons holding me back from these names?
Re: Need name help!! (Long sorry)
Elijah Ryan (NN Eli) flows better than Eli Ryan, I think.
I'm not a fan of Rilynn. Sorry!
Raelynn Grace <--- This is similar, but NN could be Rae.

I personally wouldn't name my kid a name of other kids I know. I like the suggestion of Elijah to get around it though.
I'm with the "no on Rilynn" group.
Lynn by itself is a fine middle name.
How close are you to the friends with kids named Eli? Do you spend time with them? Would your kids interact? If they are old friends from high school that you never see I'd say that's not a problem. If they are neighbors or close friends or your older child's friends/classmates or siblings of those children, then yeah, I wouldn't do it. Elijah is a really nice alternative, along with Elias, but if they are all called "Eli" that might be too much.
If you have agreed on Ryan and Lynn, would you consider using them for first names instead? They are both perfectly good first names and honor the two of you (without a "jr" situation), and if you both agree on them, it might be great to be settled on the first names and play with middle names instead (which don't matter as much and isn't as stressful). Especially since you said YH seems to hate every name!
I second these suggestions
Also a July 2013 Mom!
This.
Smoosh names rarely end well.
Anna Catherine 7/23/2012, 35 weeks 5 days, 5 lbs 5 oz (PProm)
Baby Sam 10/4/2013, 36 weeks 2 days, 5 lbs 14 oz
Eli is popular but I like it and really like Eli Ryan.
I strongly dislike Rilynn, it looks really bizarre and I don't like the smoosh factor. I would find a different girl name.
I like Eli or Elijah with the MN Ryan, either name would work. I wouldn't worry about acquaintances having kids with the same name unless you see them all of the time.
As for a girl name, please don't create a you-neek name. Rilynn is not a good choice! Why not use Lynn as a middle name, and give baby girl a nice legit name?
