Out and About

Just excited, so I thought I'd share...

Yesterday I took my sweet babies to the grocery store by myself! I only needed milk, but I had to prove to myself that I could do it. It went SO smoothly! They were perfect and slept the whole time.

Also no one tried to touch them. I was extra excited about that.

I might graduate to taking them real grocery shopping in the near future and I'm no longer terrified of the prospect!

Anyone have any advice about keeping them calm during outings? Not that my babies are ever fussy or anything... :p

Re: Out and About

  • As long as you feed before you head out the door, you should be fine! Mine have always enjoyed either watching the world go by from their stroller, or snoozing in it.  As long as you keep moving, the movement calms and relaxes them... Very few meltdowns in public, thank goodness!

  • I'm impressed.  It took me a looong time time to do that.  Make a point in getting out with them next week-two times.

Also, run the risk of it being a disaster....it's okay if it is.  : )  It'll teach all of you.

    Huge milestone-congrats!!!!

  • Yay! :)  So glad it went well and no one tried to touch them.  I actually made signs for our babies car seats that say "We love to chat, but please don't touch. :)"  That way it's not nasty and I don't have to constantly tell people hands off!  They sell them online but they are like 8.00 each, so I just made my own on the computer and laminated them.

  • Congratulations!

I get stir-crazy at home, so we go out all the time, and did from early on.  I agree with PP, feed them before you go and you should be fine.  You'll also learn the really baby-friendly places fast, like who has a great changing table and where you can find a place to nurse or give a bottle.

I found that mine were actually (and still are) calmer going out than staying at home.  Maybe they're like Mom and enjoy the stimulation of the "outside world."

  • Thanks for the encouragement and advice! :) It really felt awesome. I may or may not have felt a little like Supermom.

I think we will go out tomorrow too :)
