I am a stomach sleeper, but I found that I kept waking up feeling sick so I bought the boppy maternity pillow since I was going to get later on and I am able to sleep on my side comfortably.
My hubby and I have been together since 2008. Married 5 years in Dec. DX with PCOS and
annovulatory hypothalamus. TTC for baby #2 for 10 months BFP on May 29th 2015
Side is best, early in pregnancy I don't think it matters because of how low baby sits. Prior to my first baby I was always a tummy sleeper. As I got further along in the pregnancy I used to tilt to the side just a bit to adjust so I wasn't quite on my side but not quite on my tummy fully either.
My OB has always said you can sleep however you are comfortable. If you aren't comfortable on your tummy then don't sleep that way, otherwise you're fine.
You can sleep on your stomach until you are uncomfortable. I slept mostly on my stomach until about 18 wks, then I started protruding too much so I slept on my side.
You should be ok for now. They recommend getting use to sleeping on your side. Left side is best. Dont remember why. Later on in your pregnancy they advise against sleeping on your back because the weight of your uterus rests on a main artery and its bad for circulation.
Laying on your left side is best because it allows more blood flow to your uterus.
This post was EXTREMELY helpful- I was wondering this as well because I toss and turn a lot at night- I can't seem to get comfortable. Thanks for all the advice to put my mind at ease!!

no your ok. when you shouldnt sleep on your stomach you wont be able to.
This. But you should start sleeping on your left side if possible after the first trimester. This gives the baby(ies) as much oxygen and blood flow as possible.

The whole left side better than right was actually debunked per my OB and surgical staff at my c-sections.
I agree with the others. Sleep on your tummy until you can't anymore. I used to sleep on my tummy, but feel very uncomfortable now, at 6 weeks 6 days. I'm now a side sleeper.
