  • I am a stomach sleeper, but I found that I kept waking up feeling sick so I bought the boppy maternity pillow since I was going to get later on and I am able to sleep on my side comfortably.

  • Side is best, early in pregnancy I don't think it matters because of how low baby sits. Prior to my first baby I was always a tummy sleeper. As I got further along in the pregnancy I used to tilt to the side just a bit to adjust so I wasn't quite on my side but not quite on my tummy fully either.

  • I wouldn't, it's better to sleep on your side or back.

  • My OB has always said you can sleep however you are comfortable.  If you aren't comfortable on your tummy then don't sleep that way, otherwise you're fine.

  • You can sleep any way you want as long as it's comfortable.

  • You can sleep on your stomach until you are uncomfortable. I slept mostly on my stomach until about 18 wks, then I started protruding too much so I slept on my side.

You should be ok for now. They recommend getting use to sleeping on your side. Left side is best. Dont remember why. Later on in your pregnancy they advise against sleeping on your back because the weight of your uterus rests on a main artery and its bad for circulation.

Laying on your left side is best because it allows more blood flow to your uterus.

  • No. When/if it gets to be too uncomfortable, you'll know.

  • Enjoy it while you can... The consensus of the January bmb is stomach sleeping is one of the things we miss most.

This.  But you should start sleeping on your left side if possible after the first trimester.  This gives the baby(ies) as much oxygen and blood flow as possible.

The whole left side better than right was actually debunked per my OB and surgical staff at my c-sections.

  • I agree with the others. Sleep on your tummy until you can't anymore.  I used to sleep on my tummy, but feel very uncomfortable now, at 6 weeks 6 days.  I'm now a side sleeper.
