when i got adopted

hy im 20 years old now and i was adopted when i was 6 years old by a foster family.... i was an open adoption and i got to see my birth mother a few times a year i used to give my adopted parents hell because i never really understod why I was adopted and other kids got there moms. i used to think my birth mom was so amazing and this and that.

 it wasnt until i went to live with her at the age of 16 that i realized she wasnt who i thought she was and she wasnt fit to even be a mother to me or my other half siblings. it ws then that i wanted to be with my real family!

my adoptive dad is my life he is the greatest man i wil ever know he took care of me taught me right from wrong and showed me what lifes about!

im here just to tell my story and that im having a baby and i want my babys middle name to be steven after the greatest dad i kno... and that to all you adopting kids thank you and raise them well they will always have questions and i hope you answer them well.. your all wonderful parents too!!!

I think your struggle to understand why you were relinquished by your birth parents is one that many people who were adopted share.  There are no easy answers and as an adoptive parent I know that I am always trying to discern the best way to talk to my son about his adoption. I'm sorry you had to go through such a hard time but happy to hear that it led you to a renewed relationship with your dad. You do not need to thank us for adopting either- we all feel that we are the lucky ones in this deal! We are so happy to be raising our children.
