I know a lot of you ladies are probably attending a Cookie Exchange (or two) IRL, so...share your favorite Christmas cookie recipe! And, feel free to share even if you're not going to a Cookie Exchange. Inspire me, please!
I make these every year for cookie exchange. They are smaller cookies which is good when you're making several dozen and pretty easy to make.
Melt together 2, oz squares of unsweetened chocolate and 1/4 cup butter. Then add 1 cup sugar and stir until dissolved. Set aside to cool.
Set aside 4oz nuts (optional), coarsely chopped.
Sift 1 cup flour with 1/4 tsp salt into a bowl
Beat together 2 eggs and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Add egg mixture in thirds to cooled melted chocolate beating well after each addition.
Blend in dry ingredients and then stir in nuts if using. Chill dough ~3hrs.
Roll small pieces of dough to form 1in balls. Roll balls in confectioners sugar, place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 mins at 400.
ETA - my Mom always called them Chocolate Snowflake Cookies because of the powdered sugar on top. I've seen a few variation of the recipe online with similar name.
Well that sounds lovely. The only cookies I make basically come either in a box, or in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. I would not be popular at this party. I think we should have a Holiday Cocktail Party.

You would!
I have never been to a cookie exchange. The cocktail party sounds fun. What would you contribute to that? I would probably look up some new, fun Christmas martini, and I would also contribute a homemade sangria

I love baking so I would be totally excited for this party and the cocktail one too.
I've made these two recipes and although I am not an expert baker they taste good... On the first I didn't add enough butter so they were hard. The second didn't look like the recipe, they were fatter and fluffy. Still delicious though!
