Are these signs rude?

https://www.jackiescrafts.com/images/kidplaques/babysleepingpp.jpg

I feel like they might be, a little, but at the same time, if I have a baby that's just been put down for a nap, I'm not too worried about that. DH and I both have family members that feel they're exempt from the call before coming over wishes we've expressed, and I'm really considering getting something like this.

Re: Are these signs rude?

  • Yes it's a link to one of those signs. I guess it would be for family and delivery guys because they also bang on the door really loud and ring the bell.

Part of me doesn't like advertising that there's a baby in the house, either, which is one reason I'd be hesitant to get one. Fortunately my dog isn't a barker, he kind of just looks up when someone's at the door. But you're probably right, rude is rude and if they'll disregard one thing they'll probably just ignore any attempt to fix the issue.
  • I didn't look at the signs, but I would put them up anyway.  New mamas need thier sleep.

  • I have put some signs up before that say "do not ring the mothereffing door bell".  people seem to take that seriously.  the fact that 3 giant dogs barrel at the door enforces the point.

  • The link didn't work but I made my own sign that says "Shhhh! No knocking it's naptime" and I love it. I've had 2 idiots knock anyway though and they definitely got my wrath. LOL I say go for it. There is NOTHING worse than having a sleeping kid and then have them rudely awaken, IMO

  • I don't think they are rude. I once had one above the doorknob that said "UPS and FedEx: Please knock softly! FOUR children sleeping inside...you wake them, you take them!!!"

I was about to ask what are delivery guys supposed to do? Work their route according to my kid's nap schedule? And, we live in a condo building, there's no soft knocking on our door, we have the loud doorbell. I am just glad my kid sleeps through everything.
Don't knock/ring door bell.  Just leave the package.  No different than you just not being home during the day.

When we were in the city, we had to sign for everything. They couldn't just leave it on the city street. So they have to ring the bell. It's not their responsibility to worry about a baby and their nap.

We rarely if ever have to sign for anything, but if we did I wouldn't expect them to change that policy for me. As for how loud they're knocking, our front door is mostly glass and they usually give a really loud Bang Bang Bang, then ring the bell. I know he's just letting anyone who might be home there's a package there, but our house has really high ceiling so anything echoes really loudly.

I might look into a white noise machine. I think I'd actually registered for that lamb, I just never got it when I went and did my completion trip.
  • I don't think they are rude. We had one. But, the sign never actually seemed to work.
