TTC After a Loss

Mood Swings

I've been MIA for a week while DH and I are trying to not kill each other (yay holiday stress).  Trying to catch up here a little...

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any input?  The emotionalness (is that a word?) that started when I got pregnant hasn't gone away (I was never emotional at all with my first).  I cry at breakups on Glee FFS, and anything to do with babies or sick children or anything that makes me happy.  I'm thinking it's just hormones still, even though I'm almost 7 weeks post miscarriage.  I feel like a teenager or something, and I'm sure it's not helping in my arguments with DH.  He, of course, thinks there's something wrong with me and I need counseling.  So, normal or something else?

Re: Mood Swings

  • I cried recently because I dropped a bagel on the floor at breakfast.

I certainly think you're allowed to be emotional. I did start seeing a shrink after my first loss and I think it's a positive experience. Don't think that there's something wrong with you, or seeing someone. You wouldn't skip on a doctor if you had the flu, right?

Hope things change for the better soon.

  • As sucky as it is, I'm pretty sure it's normal. I have a few different factors at play, but I get emotional all of the time. Sometimes it is anger, sometimes sadness, sometimes it is pure crazy. But it happens and it sucks. ((hugs)) Sorry you have to deal with this.

  • My emotions are all over the place. I cry pretty much anytime I watch TV regardless of the subject (happy, sad, it doesn't matter). I'm not going to see someone for now (mainly for money reasons), but if I don't start to feel like myself in a few weeks, I probably will. I don't remember it being like this after my first m/c.

  • I am sorry for what you are going through. I am still experiencing a roller coaster of emotions and it's been 2 months. I cry very easily lately too. Don't be too hard on yourself and try to find simple things to indulge in to help cheer yourself up. Hugs!

Exactly what raven said. I had a mental breakdown because I made a cake and some of it stuck to the pan. I hope you feel better soon!

  • Thank you.  I've dealt with depression in the past, so I'm pretty sure it's not that...  Actually, I just thought of what this reminds me of, the postpartum "baby blues." :-/
