When did you go into labor with your first?

Well, I've been stuck at 1 cm for a couple of weeks now. I am 70% effaced as of yesterday, so my midwife decided to sweep my membranes (although it has yet to do anything but make me very uncomfortable).

I'm starting to worry about having to be induced. : ( I know it's different for everyone, but when did you go into labor with your first? [Poll]

There is still plenty of time!  You aren't even 40w yet and a lot of FTMs go closer to 41w.  Most OBs/Midwives will let you go to 41w.  I had DD at 39w6d, and when I was checked at my 39w appt I was only 1cm dilated and 75% effaced.

I know it's hard but try not to worry. They tried to send me home from the hospital and said I was not in labor, only 1 cm. I had my son 4 hours later. So whether you are dilated or not doesn't mean a whole lot! It will happen!

I had DS at 40w2d - at my 40w appointment I was 1cm and 70% effaced like I had been for the previous 3 weeks.  I started having regular contractions at 7 pm - got to the hospital at 8 and I was only 2 cm.  I had DS at 11:30 pm. 

With DD I had to be induced at 40w3d because I passed out during my NST test.  Every pg is different and just because you have no progress now doesn't mean you can't have a baby today.  

ETA:  My induction was super easy - I felt my 1st contraction at 9:30am and had DD at 12:31pm.  I only had to push twice.  Oh yeah - I also took a nap during labor for about 2 hours.

I was 1 cm at my 39 week appt.  I ended up going into labor on my actual due date at 3pm and had the baby at 1:09am.  When I woke up that day I felt totally normal and did not think I'd be having a baby.  

Hang in there! That last bit is so hard, the excitement/anxiety/waiting is killer!  Your LO will come when ready!

My first, I was going to be induced at 40w5d @ 8am, I went into labor at 3:30am when I was 40w5d.

My second I was induced at 41w.

ETA: My induction was super easy, I was admitted at 8am, I was GBS+ so I got 4 hours of IV antibiotics, induction started at noon, had M at 857pm

My water broke at 37w and change. I had zero contractions. 8 hours later, she was still in my ribs and there was no indication she had any intention of moving. I chose a c section over Pitocin. I didn't have a single contraction until after she was born amd I attempted to breastfeed her!

I was 3cm and 75% effaced for a couple weeks. DD was born at 40w4d. :-/

Dilation really doesn't mean too much IMO.  I was 3 cm for almost 3 weeks (can't remember effacement).  DD was born at 39w4d.  I know it's tough at the end because you just want to meet your LO but they will be here soon enough.

DS was a couple of weeks early despite earlier bed rest at about 35 weeks. I had been dilating early on, and went in at about 38 weeks because of being uncomfortable at home. Turns out I was having contractions. They admitted me, but I didn't progress so they gave me pitocin to get things going. I had an epi. With G, I went to 41 weeks exactly, and labor started naturally with my water leaking. I still didn't progress well and was given pitocin again, but I was able to go natural.

Induction isn't necessarily something to stress about. I think the experience can vary greatly from labor to labor, or person to person.
