We haven't made any big announcements about wanting to adopt, but we decided that I should put some books on adoption on my Amazon wishlist and see how long it took for someone to figure out we were thinking of adopting. My mother caught on in less than twenty-four hours.
She seems to approve of our rationale, although I think she's uncertain about the international angle along the lines of 'But what about the kids here?' In any case, there was no nay-saying and I think she will be supportive of us. Happy happy!
One down, so many more to go...
Re: The first word is out...
15 treatment cycles: four early m/c
Moving forward with domestic infant adoption!
Home study approved 5/13, now just waiting...
So exciting!
Hopefully she'll come around on the international angle
Now the fun of discussing it with all your family and friends as the word spreads! So much fun and giddiness!
I'm sure your mom will come around to understand why you are choosing IA once you explain it to her. It's not that you are forsaking the children here. There are lots of reasons for choosing to adopt internationally, and I'm sure once she hears yours, it will make more sense and she'll understand that this is a decision you didn't make lightly.
