Names to go with Emerson (boy)

Please help me find both boy and girl names to go with big bro emerson. Here are some names I like....

 Girl: Brooklyn, Ashlyn, Aubrey, grace

Boy:Declan, Ethan

Dh isn't too keen on my names. He likes a lot on the top ten lists such as Sophia, Abigail, ella

Boy...Eli

I love Brooklyn for a girl and Clayton for a boy.

My earnest suggestion for you would be that whatever you choose for a girl-- make it way feminine sounding.

While Emerson started as a boy's name (and to me-- it still is a boy's name)-- it's been trending girl for a while now.  You wouldn't want your girl to have a more "boy" sounding name than your boy, KWIM?

So Emerson and Sofia-- yes

Emerson and Aubrey-- no

Also-- I would maybe keep this idea in mind for another boy.  I would probably pick another unisex- leaning name.

Emerson and Ethan- one is so obviously boy and the other is not so much

Emerson and Addison (for example)- looks more balanced

 

Sorry this got so long and I hope I don't offend you.  This is one of the issues I think that come with choosing a "unisex" name.

Emerson was a family name...his dad and grandfathers name is emerson and the baby is number 3. I totally disagree with it sounding feminine. I really don't like it as a girl name. I dont know if it makes a difference but my husband is very masculine (big football player) Maybe that changes my impression.

 I do like the combo of a really feminine girls name w it however.  Any other ideas?

No I totally agree with you-- it's a boy's name!  But sadly it has been taken over by the girls-- which you seem aware of because of the way you worded the title of your post.

The only girl name I like from your list is Grace.  Audrey is my #1 girl name at the moment, but I don't like Aubrey.

I like both boy names on your list, but they feel a bit more trendy than your family name Emerson.

Suggestions for girls:  Audrey, Caroline, Camilla/Camille, Claire, Charlotte, Natalie, Lauren, Juliet, Evelyn, Vivian

Suggestions for boys:  Benjamin, Elijah, Bennett, Andrew, Harrison, Henry, Marshall, Maxwell

Oh I remember that!!! LOVE IT! Everything is wonderful! Just trying and trying for #2! I don't know about you, but it was SO EASY with Emmery's name for DH and I to agree. We really didn't even once consider another boy name. But this time (haha funny cause we aren't even pregnant yet) we have lists as long as our arms!

Maybe I watched too much TV a few years ago, but the first thing I thought of with Addison Grace was Grey's Anatomy - McDreamy's wife Addison and the hospital, Seattle Grace. It wouldn't deter me from using it, mind you, just the first connection I made
