Something exciting PART 2

I accidently hit the post button too fast.  Ok, so here is the only "problem".  Because I thought we were  one and done I got on the Dep shot.  I'm on my second cycle. It will be "expired" on Feb 1, 2013.  From that day I've been told that it could take 6 months to 2 years to get pregnant!!  Bummer!! Although I would like to wait until Linc is a little older to have another, I hate the fact that it will be determined by this drug I willingly put in my body. Does that make sense?  Well, here is hoping that 2013 is our year!!!!  I'm just so excited to know that I can have another baby.  I'm 29, healthy, and SO ready to start this TTC journey again.  Who's with me!!??

Thanks for reading if you made it this far!!!!

  • Aw yay! I'm glad you are trying again. I'm going to start TTC next August (although I'm having some serious baby fever now...) It sucks that your BC is preventing you from getting pregnant as soon as you want! That's why I use cycle beads and condoms. I just don't like a medicine controlling my fertility.

  • Yeah, because it will take so long for the drug to get out of my system we will start actually trying around August.  I guess if it happens before then it's God's will :)

  • Congrats on the potential of another!

I was on the depo shot (but was on it for 5 years.... so don't take what Im going to say into your situation) but I was off of it for 4 years before I got "normal" periods again. Then it took another 3 years to get pregnant... Like I said, I was on it for actually longer than they suggest, so I am 110% positive that is why it took so long for me.

I hope that 2013 is the year for both of us!

H and I started this month for #2!

Thanks for your imput!  Don't worry, you didn't scare me.  Google on the subject of "pregnancy after depo-provera" is mostly all bad, but I understand that everyones body is different. Plus only being on 2 cycles will hopefully help and my periods have always been like clockwork.  Congrats on starting TTC! Much baby dust to you!!!!

  • I wouldn't worry too much. Just have fun Wink!  I had three rounds of depo after I stopped nursing ds1. I got a light and short period about two weeks after I should have had another dose. I was pregnant that month! I wasn't really sure when I would be ovulating since I hadn't had a real period since before ds1 was born. So, DH had a lot of fun that month!!!
  • Yay! Super exciting! My story is almost the same as yours. My dh was previously married and has a 12 year old and 10 year old the I have helped raise since they were 6 months and two. I consider them mine but, I wanted more. We had charleigh, our two year old in 2010 and Emma in May. We thought we were done but have decided that one more is good for us
I started my periods pretty late, at 17 and almost immediately got on depo, which I loved. I was on it for 4 years and got my last shot November 2007. It took us until December 2009 to conceive charleigh.
I don't think it was so much the depo that made it take so long, but the fact that I never really established my cycles in the first place. I wouldn't worry about just being on it for this short of time. I have lots of friends that were on it for a short time and got pregnant within 6 months
    Good luck and congratulations!

  • Congrats!!! I hope the depo doesn't effect you too much, my friend was on it for 3 years, and has been trying for 3 years to get preg :( Luckily you were on it for much shorter!! Good luck, I hope it happens when you want it to!!!

  • Congrats! Hopefully once the depo shot is "expired" it will be sooner rather than later. I'm still not sure when DH and I are going to start trying again. I have PCOS, so it will more than likely take longer than I would like.
